Throughout Summer Season, from May to October, Argentiere is a great location from which to enjoy the extensive range of adventure sports and leisure activities on offer in Chamonix Mont Blanc or simply to 'sightsee' many of the delightful locations found in the surrounding region of Haute Savoie.
The Chamonix valley has one of the most extensive, well signposted and maintained networks of mountain footpaths in the French Alps. Over 170 marked trails covering in excess of 300Kms are maintained by the Office de Haute-Montagne. All trails are categorized and graded by degree of difficulty and detailed on specialist walking maps of the area, for example Mont-Blanc Trails, Guide & Map published by Sentiers du Mont-Blanc in English, French or German – and available in Tourist Offices, Sports Shops etc.

Whether on foot, by car, motor-cycle or train, the Chamonix valley and surrounding countryside of Haute Savoie offers a wealth of outstanding, truly spectacular mountain scenery.
North of Argentiere lies the French/Swiss border village of Vallorcine, 15 minutes across the Col des Montets. From Vallorcine travel into Switzerland over the Col de La Forclaz and you could be relaxing by the shores of Lake Geneva, luxuriating in the spa at Lavey les Bains or listening to the sounds of summer blues & jazz at the Montreux Festival.
South of Argentiere, via the Mont-Blanc Tunnel, you will find Courmayeur, at the head of Italy's Aoste valley, from there both the Petit and Grand St. Bernard Passes are easily accessible by car in summer. Lake Como and Lake Maggiore are within reach, as is Milan the fashion capital of Italy.
One of most popular summer season activities in Europe's largest alpine resort is Mountain Biking. Many of the 300kms of way-marked walking trails around the Chamonix valley have been categorized VTT for exploration by mountain bikers and provide excellent all round biking for XC and Freeride enthusiasts. Intermediate and Advanced riders specialising in technical singletrack will enjoy some the most exhilarating bike trails anywhere in France and have the opportunity to test their skills to the limit.
Beginners are well catered for with many trails through pine forest on the valley floor and in the two villages of Le Tour and Les Houches.
Rock-climbing, ice-climbing, mountaineering, white-water rafting and parapenting are all on offer in the Chamonix valley. Alternatively you might opt for a leisurely game of Tennis or a round of Golf or simply relax and enjoy the most spectacular mountain scenery in Western Europe.
