Winter Season

Throughout the year stunning glacial scenery and soaring, rugged snow covered peaks characterise Argentiere, and the majestic valley known as Chamonix Mont Blanc, historic home to the 1st Winter Olympics and now acknowledged as the climbing and skiing capital of the World.

In Winter Season, from December to May, Argentiere is the ideal location for anyone aspiring to enjoy a truly exceptional alpine sports experience – with Les Grand Montets, at 3275M one of the world's greatest ski mountains, on your doorstep and ease of access to Le Brevent/La Flegere and Le Tour/Vallorcine there is an enviable daily choice between three extensive 'snow-sure' systems, above 2000m that together provide more than 150kms of marked piste/trail with runs suitable for all grades of skier from Beginner to Advanced.

For the experienced 'off-piste' skier and 'powderhound' Les Grand Montets is a paradise of bowls, couloirs and glacial skiing renowned the world over. While for many skiers a day long 22.5Km traverse past the gaping crevasses and gigantic seracs (ice blocks) of the Vallee Blanche from the Aiguille du Midi (3842m) t o Chamonix remains the ultimate ski experience!

If Les Grand Montets is best suited to intermediate and 'powderhound' expert skiers or board riders looking for new challenges, then Intermediate/Novice skiers will thrive on the extensive groomed pistes found at Le Brevent / La Flegere.

There is ample opportunity for Beginners & Intermediates to have unlimited entertainment on the groomed pistes and wide open spaces of Le Tour / Vallorcine while 'old romantics' will enjoy the tree lined trails that wind their leisurely way down to the Swiss border hamlet of Vallorcine.

Such a wide variety of easily accessible skiing makes Argentiere, Chamonix Mont-Blanc the ideal location for aspiring' skiers, mixed ability groups or families who are happy to 'go their separate ways' during the day and get together in the evening for 'apres-ski' and 'today's adventures' story swopping!

For a 'day trip' change of scene the nearby resorts of Courmayeur (Italy) Les Houches, Les Contamines, Megeve, Verbier/4 Vallees provide the ideal destination by car..

Ski-Schools

Ecole Ski Francais (ESF) Argentière, t +33 (0)450 54 00 12, is located at Les Grand Montets Telepherique du Lognon where you will also find the Panda Club and the nearby Jardin du Neige. Contact details of ESF Instructors are available on request for those wishing to have private lessons.
